Artist's Statement
I enjoy composing and often take a great deal of time
working through ideas for final works. When I am
exploring an idea I choose a medium that will
best give me the feel I desire in a final painting.
I take my own photo references on location and
keep a sketchbook at all times.
Many of my acrylic paintings incorporate lush batik
fabrics wrapped around a birch panel support, multiple
color glazes and complex textural surfaces created
with acrylic mediums.
The texture and color of the batik fabric adds another
layer to the support and the fabrics woven quality
enhances the interconnection of my subjects and ideas.
